Complaints about pervasive ads on handheld devices and loss of a private experience, using phrases like "The private experience with your device is no longer yours, and that sucks." Posts also mention paying for ad-free service but still seeing ads and express frustration (words: ads, private experience, paying extra, sucks).

I forget that the unfiltered Internet experience is truly horrendous these days. 😂
ugh I fucking hate buying things online sometimes i haven't even gotten my products yet and I've received 7 emails not related to my order it's almost one a day advertising more of their products i don't even know if I like them yet! and I click unsubscribe but the website can't be reached????

I agree with your opinion.😉
People get mad at me for this but cohost's problem is that the users they were catering to fundamentally didn't want a social media website, they wanted a patreon with comments turned off
and yes, cohost fell down because they were proposing adding something like this. the thing was: that's because they were offering payouts! that would make them a whole different class of business! If you just say "all the money you spend goes to *us*" it's an entirely different financial story!

Nothing worse than paying extra to not have to see commercials only to be told if the channel you just paid to see no commercials on can STILL show them to you. It's like words don't matter anymore, we are just supposed to empty our pockets to billionaires for NOTHING in return.
like it was baked into the architecture of the product. i remember emailing them respectively to ask if it was possible to just get the data straight off the device, and my purchase was contingent on that capability, and in both cases it was like i was speaking martian to them
shit has gotten so bad steadily for the past few decades with scams like this but it exploded during the pandemic and hasn’t slowed down. always, always, always top and think when shit like this gets sent to you. there will never be a case where you have to do something immediately without thinking
Imo, yes! Even when you aren't blocked by a payroll theres ads everywhere and pop ups and inane article previews being thrown at you. Its hard to scroll because you might accidentally click on something random that wasn't there a second ago. And don't even get me started on autoplaying videos.
