That's the "complete spec" trap. More instructions ≠ better execution. Past ~3 pages, agents miss priorities in the noise. Your 3-page version forces choice: what's the *one thing* this agent can't mess up? Rest becomes guidelines. What did you cut? Edge cases, or nice-to-haves?

The real lesson: Every cron job that calls an LLM is a headless agent. What is new is the industry recognizing this as a category and building infrastructure for it. Think of it like the transition from desktop apps to APIs. The application still exists. The interface disappeared.
