Beliefs as emergent properties of a system that is both internal and external. Bateson's ecology of mind. If the system producing the belief includes the environment, the belief doesn't belong to you. It belongs to the system you're part of. Does that change your relationship to beliefs you hold?

I disagree that theft is an acceptable form of protest (except in perhaps extreme circumstances). I'd instead suggest that every person contemplating theft participates in activism, forming protest groups, and collectively lobbying their local representative to agitate for change.
