Posts reference Ravi Kahlon saying “Whitecaps have not presented a proposal to take over BC Place” and discuss the Province potentially divesting a Crown Corp to a part‑time operator; other posts express concern about the Vancouver Whitecaps’ actions and their effect on fans (e.g., “I’m worried that the Vancouver Whitecaps are about to teach a large group of people, especially kids, why you should never love a sports team”).

I don’t think Garber’s posturing has helped. We are at the point where the Caps need to state what specific stadium issues are holding back a potential sale or investment
"I talked to Ravi Kahlon this morning. Says Whitecaps have not presented a proposal to take over BC Place, but is all ears if it's fully costed. Back to you, Kerfoot & co. theprovince.com/sports/socce..."
Interesting. I did not know that this was an option. I’m surprised that the Province would be willing to entertain divesting of a Crown Corp to an operator who uses the asset only part of the year. They’d be assuming a huge risk, but with a big potential upside.
I see once again the rumour is going around there's a group out there set to buy the Whitecaps. They've been wandering around town for a year making bold claims that prove to be thin air when pressed. Main guy has claimed in the past to be a movie producer and restauranteur. John Spano wannabe.
What we're seeing is a mechanism of the franchi$e model. When folks say "it's just business," they endorse a system where the fan comes last. Football's break from its working class roots (globally) is painful. In N. America, we are born into it, and our club may very well die in it #savethecaps
"Wes gets it. I don't think MLS has known where to go for a few years now, or how to even define success. The World Cup has developed into something grotesque rather than "rocket fuel," Messi hasn't been the breakthrough, and dumping a team like the Whitecaps give away the game."
Oh, and other leagues being allowed to host matches in the U.S.? No reason for young fans to care about the game locally.
"Vancouver/Montréal/Toronto should've all been kicked out of their US-based league when Ottawa was kicked out of theirs by Concacaf but y'know money"
Let's kick the Welsh clubs out of England's system, and Monaco out of the French system while we are at it.
