Posts use #SAVETHECAPS calling to keep the Vancouver Whitecaps in-city; note that the club’s lease at BC Place expires at year-end, fans urge an in-market stadium solution, and one post mentions Mayor Sim and potential MLB implications.

Whitecaps owners might want to tone down the relocation rhetoric, because nothing kills fan loyalty quicker than threatening to move away. It's a great way to end up in Omaha.
"The Vancouver Whitecaps continue to work on an in-market solution for a new stadium, as their lease at BC Place expires at the end of this year. Whitecaps fans have begun a #SAVETHECAPS movement to keep the storied club home."

It's a real offer but there are many hurdles on the way and it would be a long term project. My understanding is that this LV offer is on the table, can be acted upon after this season, and is more lucrative than staying in Vancouver. Default position as of today IMO is the Caps are gone this fall.
These owners better be careful. There’s only so many times you can tell fans “It might be emotional for you, but it’s financial for me” before fans stop investing emotionally—and financially. You can see signs of it across the sports landscape. Moving the ‘Caps would be another log on that fire.

Thank you guys so much for spreading awareness of this.

Putting the off-field stuff aside, as #whitecapsfc #vwfc fans we are blessed to be living when our team plays well and looks good doing it. Putting my mind in that "record every moment to mental videotape" mode usually saved for birth of a child, epic concerts and intense sexual experiences

Other than trying to push for the Hastings racecourse, this is completely out of the city's hands.
Eventually, at some point, CPL should want the country’s three biggest teams in its ranks, and CSA, CONCACAF and FIFA would gladly endorse them. But this is not how it should happen. These relocation processes are never the answer. It’s so clearly not made w/ the best interest of all parties in mind

Mayor Sim has to understand that if he can’t make it work to keep the Whitecaps in Vancouver, there’s no chance in hell the MLB will remotely consider a team in the city.
