Posts discuss politicians facing swift consequences for alleged sexual misconduct. Common phrases: "It is so refreshing to see a politician facing swift, meaningful consequences for (alleged) sexual misconduct." Responses reference partisan disparity and hypocrisy (mentioning GOP and Rep Tony Gonzalez) and calls to "Get them all; no matter the party!!"

That's what happens when it's a Dem. They don't stand for that shit, unlike the corrupt serial assaulters on the other side of the aisle.
Why they resign? Party forces them to. Allegations are ammo used distract. If there's meat to the allegations, it doesn't affect Justice starting a criminal investigation or civil lawsuits from being filed. Al Franken was shamed by his party into resigning for a nothing burger & a big Dem loss.
Warnings about the lawmaker had long circulated privately. Then a handful of women and online creators pushed them into public view, forcing California’s political establishment to reckon with how far he got. www.politico.com/news/2026/04...
If Dem leadership and their rich donors wanted this problem taken care of, it would have been before midterms of 2022. It wasn't. Donald "34 felonies" Trump remained free to run again under the watch of Democrat leadership. Those in power are incompetent or accomplices at this stage. 🙈

And yet, as usual, Republicans will apparently get a win out of it because their own Rep Tony Gonzalez will now be allowed to stay on in Congress and face no consequences for similar abuses. As always. And nobody in the GOP or the corporate media will even care about the hypocrisy.
Ah, the “no u” argument. A classic! YOU want to direct attention away from the predator with a (D) one with an (R) - a man whose cult wouldn’t care if he SA’d a woman on live TV. I’m right about ousting, too. Barring a historic flip in Nov or Rs abandoning him, natural causes is the only option.
The only times you mention the victims is to cast doubt on their accusations but there's too much evidence to suggest ulterior motives. It's an unquestionably good thing this information came out before the democratic primary because we do not want a sexual predator as our nominee for CA governor.
One has to wonder how much of the abuse of power for prurient purposes is going on in Congress. There should be a course that young women should take before working on the Hill. It would include how to spot a predator boss, how to effectively refuse advances, and how to report any advances.
Good riddance to two congressmen that needed to go. The behavior was unacceptable. If it's proven to be anything other than the truth later on they can always try again or get back into politics some other way. This is not something that needs to be part of the public discourse instead of real stuff
Compare this to Al Franken, who said, "I'd like an investigation, please" and Biden/Gillibrand called him and were like "We won't be doing an investigation--either resign by the end of the day or we're kicking you out." (Especially given the way Biden treated Anita Hill back in the day.)
It's irresponsible of my party not to say anything... We're looking closely at the Democrats. Our base has always been the Humanity Police. Every leader under the microscope. They're held to a particular standard. We are the hub. Rape. Racism. Secret Fascism. Authoritarian Rule Ideology. Sexism OUT
I'll believe it when I see it. He should've resigned from Congress when the accusations of sexual misconduct against him were first announced. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...
Good, because the left has morals! The clear evidence reported were dick pics, requests for nude pics, blow jobs, and sex with staffers is all we need to know that you do not represent anyone’s interests in Congress. As for the rape allegations, based on your actions, I believe the women.
We don't need to break out the "4D chess" explanation for everything. He's cooked and he knows it and he resigned, as people in his party called on him to do. It's probably about not wanting to stick around in a losing proposition, not about depriving house leadership of some weird deal possibility.
I'm disgusted that he ran for governor thinking he could get away with this. But when he was going after Trump, I didn't see a lot of backup from Dems, and I thought that was strange. Arrogant and entitled, and he is a major disapointment. Meanwhile, Trump has done so much worse. Get the hook!
I think some of the other candidates had that worry about him dropping his gubernatorial bid and seeking his seat again if he failed to gain traction before the March 6 filing deadline. One of them ran for his seat when he ran for president then had to bow out. I would've stayed in regardless.
I am disappointed and disgusted. That he is speedily exiting his campaign and Congressional seat suggeats that the accusations are true, but I've never heard anything like this about him before. Were all the Democrats - the ones who are so anxious to jettison him now - keeping it a secret?
I liked him. Something stinks about this whole thing. How come no Republican has to resign or even get into any trouble but the democrats do? If he did sexually assault her then yes he should resign but Trump has been proven in court he sexually assaulted E Jean & look where he’s at? Pisses me off
For Pete’s sake! If I had a dollar for EVERY member of the House & Senate who had skeletons in the closet I could have retired VERY WEALTHY! How many members have flirted with 14 year old girls, did sexual innuendo with staffers! Right up to Donald Trump bragging he can kiss anyone & grab the “P”!
His constituents who elected him should be entitled to due process before their representative is summarily removed. Democracy. He also won the election and is entitled to a process before being removed. In FL Gov DeSantis removed two progressive prosecutors, depriving those jurisdictions....
