Comments state “Pixar seems like it’s as afraid of failure and creativity as its parent company” and use the phrase “Milking cash cows until audiences are lactose intolerant.” Mentions that “Disney made Pixar cancel Be Fri,” and recalls Toy Story being targeted at kids before reviews highlighted its “incredibly strange visuals (3D?!)” and emotional resonance.

But the real money is in adults(with more disposable income) buying merch *for themselves*. And when I say adults... You know that's mainly men. If single women *measurably* filled their homes with KDH merch, Pixar would be there

People forget when Toy Story came out, (at least in the US South) it was clearly targeted at small kids and weirdos who cared about kids toys. It wasn't until the reviews hit that the incredibly strange visuals (3D?!) and universally resonant emotional notes got it in front of that larger audience.
Too many executives and no cooks in the kitchen over there at Disney. Absolutely destroying every last thread of creativity with spreadsheets and focus testing. Avoiding making actual art at all costs because it might not tick every last box on their charts. Grinding it all down into colorless paste

Add to that Pixar/Disney stripping out any LGBTQ+ content. I knew I was gay at 10 years old. Do you have ANY idea how amazing it would have been to see myself in a Disney movie at that age? I know it's different now, but come on. (going to go watch "Strange World" again just to spite them all)
