Eventually every DAP just started using a fork of Android lol The Japanese models are generally superior for a number of small reasons (disabling the volume limit, primarily) but you can do whatever. I use a ZX707 these days.

Just found out new gumstick batteries made out of a lithium pack and stepdown/charge circuit with USB-C exist. This is dangerous info with the amount of MiniDisc players I have that need said batteries

Nice, looks like there are enough hardware buttons to change tracks and volume by feel, which is huge for me. I love the little player I have now, but when the battery stops lasting a full day, I should find one that takes USB-C like that. Tired of keeping a micro USB cable around for one device.

Honestly, I coveted minidisk a lot, but I went from normal CD to MP3 CD to MP3 player so quickly that there was no point where it made sense to get one, especially for the price they were. So painfully cool tho.

If you remember the Reaper and Reaper II cars, that was who I got those amps from. They're modded to put out crazy power at low impedance. The Kicker has some weird stuff inside, also.

I still have three MD players and a lot of discs. It’s not the “best” music format but I have so much nostalgia for the format.

That is absolutely baffling considering you guys still get carrier-subsidized Xperia phones and we haven't for over a decade or something. There's GOT to be UK retailers selling Walkmans. You oughta be able to walk into a store and buy a rectangle.
I am now discovering via eBay that Japan has a whole bunch of sexy looking Sony players with micro SD support that I gue...
