Posts criticizing politicians' comments about pensioners paying into the system, e.g. "Any politician talking about pensioners paying into a system... should be pelted with fruit immediately." Also disputes claims about under-65 people receiving pensions: "nobody under state pension age…gets a pension." Language includes insults ("man remains rancid"). Keywords: pensions, pensioners, paying, tax, austerity, tories, privatise.

It's a generational crisis and there seems to be ZERO political will to address it. I feel like the people on the 'right' side of it have pulled up the ladder. Something has to change and media coverage like this is part of the problem.
And now they get to blame the feds and province for a problem that would have appeared anyway when growth eventually slowed… “We built our finances on extracting wealth from the young and what do we do when the young stop moving here? Live with our choices? Actually pay for what we have?!?”
Yes young people, you're not as important as the people who paid into the system because there were jobs around decades ago that let them do that. And they could buy houses. And go on holidays. And still save money. You don't get that, because you were stupid enough to be born recently.
"Any politician talking about pensioners paying into a system when referring to pensions should be pelted with fruit immediately."
Also just hilarious to slag off anyone under 65 as lazy when nobody under state pension age…gets a pension.
His whole gimmick is being divisive, he can't even make a point about the state pension without making a snide remark suggesting that young people today who have endured wage stagnation, a housing crisis and a pandemic, all while maintaining record high employment levels, don't make a contribution
I remember sitting in Home Office planning meetings, where HMT were telling us we needed to find more cuts, and saying to my colleagues that they were using the GFC as an excuse to cut or privatise everything they could.
Most people of my age are asset ‘rich’ but haven’t got that much money in the bank. This is mainly due to the rise in property values. Do we really want to make people sell their homes to pay taxes? When I started work the basic rate of tax was 30%. We had functioning services and free education.

It's not just men either. Women of that generation are more right wing than those of other generations. One aspect that distorts things is that those who are not politically engaged before they reach 30 tend to be more right wing than the rest of the population in their 50s when they do start voting
