NATO was formed to come to the defense of member countries. Only one time in history has article 5 been used and that was after 9/11. NATO wasn’t formed to back a member nation if they freely attacks another country, especially when the members countries weren’t informed beforehand. M

Except that a president doesn't have the authority to officially pull us out of NATO. He can refuse to send help when NATO allies need it and refuse to cooperate with other NATO allies but only Congress can officially pull us out of NATO.

Absolutely. We will be allowed to be in NATO as a very minor part. No decision making capability, but maybe they will buy some arms from us now and then. It's a demise I have been watching since Reagan and in a way cheered. We have been planetary assholes so maybe less power is good, but expensive!

What we’ve learned is that the bear is a paper bear and has struggled immensely against a smaller army. Russia has had to call in for help from the likes of N.Korea and Iran. Russia has had to steal unwilling soldiers from other countries. At some point Europe is going to need to stand up.
