Comments question whether Andy Weir genuinely believes 'this nonsense' or if a marketing team branded the product as 'Not Woke' and 'weir just adopted the company line.' Phrases: 'Not Woke', 'stupid enough to believe', 'marketing team', 'doesn't speak terribly well of weir.'

Fake backlash over an old interview. I asked the author of both of these articles why he was making it a big deal and misquoting other people and attributing it to Andy. He blocked me. So please stop sharing that man’s horseshit clickbait articles.
" while others can read the ingredients on a chewing gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe." That only happened when I got high on weed that one time... It was ~really~ good weed, too. Also, fuck Andy Weir. He should get high every now and then he wouldn't be saying stupid shit.
"Maybe Weir's statement has changed since he made that comment almost 10 years ago. Anyone ever thought to check?"
He went on the Critical Drinker's podcast. He deserves less than nothing. Don't anchor yourself to scum.
For sure, there's an entire class of writers who make cozy commodified fantasies with basic progressive politics but for a trivial counter example I find the works of iain m banks (whose politics are far from subtle) far more thrilling and imaginative than anything andy weir has ever created
"have to wonder if weir is actually stupid enough to believe this nonsense or if the marketing team decided they wanted to brand their product as Not Woke and weir just adopted the company line"
either way it doesn't speak terribly well of weir
"honestly for all the discourse about a "Joe Rogan of the left", there's a pretty good case to be made that such a figure would have ~the politics of Weir"
people latch onto Rogan's edginess a lot when suggesting what an equivalent would look like, but the thing that makes him so dangerous is his ability to package reactionary ideas in a veil of "this is just a common sense apolitical take"
