Okay. I've lived near Trenton (we had to go there to get pizza), NYC, and CT near New Haven. New Haven style is the best. I'll eat any of them, of course, and be delighted. But put all three in front of me? New Haven will always win.

Grew up in North Jersey The Tick Tock (Clifton) has the best challah French toast The Rutt Hutt nearby in Clifton is famous for its deep fried hot dogs Hiram’s in Fort Lee is my favorite hot dog place Razza in JC is great for pizza - but I’ll take Pizza Master or Gino’s in JC Heights

Papa's is in Robbinsville now and it used to be in Trenton. It claims to be the oldest pizza place in America. It moved from Trenton about ten years ago.

It depends on which DeLorenzos you go to now. There are a few different ones in the Trenton area. (brothers fight it out) I prefer Papa's myself.

I wish we could crowdsource a directory to help folks find a good bagel in as many U.S. cities as possible. Unfortunately, a lot of cities would not have a place. They might have a listing for a place where you can get bagels that aren't good, but at least they don't make you angry.

It's odd to differentiate between NJ and NYC - in my opinion the best bagel from each would taste the same. They likely source the same flour, the water is coming from similar geographic sources, the heritage is likely the same (did your ancestors stay in the city or leave for NJ).

Tavern style is flat! And cut into squares. It’s the pizza people actually eat most of the time and retain the ability to stand.

It's all you need. They used to be on Chambers Street or thereabouts in Trenton when my dad would take me there as a kid. No place to piss or eat, just a counter. Now they're a more refined establishment in Robbinsville NJ and Yardley PA
