CEO-ing these days is usually based around ability to A) Schmooze for money and B) Not cause a PR disaster (But honestly if you do you'll be fine). What this means is that you gotta be rich enough to mingle with rich folks, and likeable to a generic audience (So, not likely to push change)

Yeah this basically. Hiring a CEO is a really complicated and difficult thing, and someone who has done it before is going to be more proficient at running that process. In some sense its like hiring a specialized recruiter
