City Hall demolition debate

Because it's an example of how we were talking about one thing and then you changed it to another! This whole time we had been talking about demolishing City Hall and suddenly no it's just about "a better use of the space"

There are people saying with authority that "the neighborhood doesn't want this" when I live in the neighborhood and want this

Look man you can't just shift the goalpoasts like this and expect me to not push back. DDI is a glorified Chamber of Commerce, not the voice of the public. I want to know: what does the PUBLIC- the actual residents of Dallas, whose property tax dollars go to the city- think of City Hall?

There's two competing visions for the district. Neither has won out fully, but even now as BPS is saying out of one side of its mouth that it's important it is as an industrial zone, they are simultaneously proposing to rezone another little bit of it for residential.

I never said there was public support for demolishing City Hall. I said there is public demand for higher use of the land. And that choice of words is in line with what CH5 supporters are also calling for (their vision is for KWP-style reimagining of Akard Plaza)

Eh, some of those buildings are 130’ deep floor plates, so that feels too wide, but there are others in the area that are the right size & consolidating tenants into these buildings & converting the others seems less wasteful than full demolition.
