Discussion of a politician/candidate with a Nazi tattoo. Posts include: "Who knew that the guy with the nazi tattoo would turn out to be an actual nazi?", "What were you thinking? ... help those of us who tried to explain away the tattoo understand?", and "He has explained this hundreds of times."

But now we have disputable evidence of where he stands. having said that. i still think he's going to win, this being weird Maine. So we need a plan to put disclaimers & guardrails around the guy.
I think even if you take the argument that he didn't know what the tattoo meant when he got it at face value, it shows such catastrophically bad judgement as to be disqualifying for senate. I'm glad I don't live in Maine so I don't have to make the choice because I don't know if I could do it.
Let’s say he didn’t know. 1) that makes him stupid. Anyone that has something tattooed on them and doesn’t know what it is, too stupid for the senate. AND once he found out he is STILL careless about vetting who he tweets and interviews with. Once again - too stupid for senate
I am not certain he knew what it was when he got it. There's no evidence he did, just a hunch I have based on what I know about military culture and tattoo shops. I think there is a vanishingly small chance he didn't find out what it was before running, based on reporting and common sense.
"reflecting and starting to get just tad pissed off at how many of my supposedly fellow travelers were unwilling to cut bait the minute the tattoo came to light. and many of whom have now gone further and started acting scandalized at the notion one could even have that line."
People are mad at the candidate and voters and people online. A communist could not stroll into the GOP and win a senate seat. Why can a Nazi do that in the Democratic Party?
What were you thinking? Help those of us who tried to explain away the tattoo understand? It's like the one thing you could do to lose substantial support was engage with the Nazi thing again, and you did it anyway, which makes it seem like, you really do think it's kind of intriguing, at least.
