Posts about a 5.740 MW solar array completed on a capped landfill in Rhode Island (mentions cleantechnica.com, #Erneuerbare #Renewable #GoodNews) and a Fossil Free London ‘Hold the Line’ protest opposing the Rosebank oil field decision.

'having the capex to add more GWh of capacity decoupled from the capex of adding more GW' I feel like if we have a battery inverter installed already, control system, a busbar, we can add more lithium cells and increase the storage capacity. This won't have an effect on the battery inverter.

shorturl.at/CH5Kb Most Canadians see the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy as a way to reduce risk of international conflict and boost our national security. Completely unacceptable for a country to take control of another country’s natural resources & annex land there.
i remember when i lived in northwest MO, the locals were upset about turbines springing up around them, mainly bc the power being generated was routed elsewhere, so they didn't see any decreases in their electric bills iirc the landowners only got a one-time payment for their trouble

"The choice is stark. Reform are the party of foreign wars and high bills. The Greens want de-escalation and energy security through renewables. Solar and wind prices don't fluctuate when rogue US presidents launch illegal bombing campaigns."
Perhaps the Green Party could put words into action and stop objecting to any and all construction projects of that new renewable electric power infrastructure particularly in the transmission and storage of it...

‘Hold the Line on Rosebank’ – campaigners target parliament as oil field decision looms [Fossil Free London protesters across the Thames from parliament hold a red ribbon and a sign saying Hold The Line #StopRosebank Rosebank] Campaigners from Fossil Free London formed a human red line along the riverbank directly across from Westminster on 3 March. All dressed in red, they held a long red ribbon and signs reading ‘Hold the Line’ and ‘Stop Rosebank’. The demonstration comes as the government prepares to decide the fate of the Rosebank [oil field][1]. It’s the [largest undeveloped oil field in the North Sea][2]. However, the [Scottish courts overturned its original approval][3] in January 2025. The court ruling demanded that the project’s primary owner, Norwegian state oil giant Equinor, [provide a fuller assessment of the project’s climate impacts][4] before any approval could proceed. Critics argue that burning Rosebank’s total reserves would produce [more carbon dioxide than the world’s 28 lowest-income countries emit][5] in a year combined. Also, the [vast majority of the oil would go for export][6]. So it wouldn’t be lowering UK energy bills or improving energy security. The Rosebank development would also [hand substantial tax relief from the public purse to Equinor][7]. Equinor’s profits flow largely into Norway’s sovereign wealth fund. A [share of profits would also go to the Delek Group, an Israeli fuel conglomerate][8]. The UN has flagged this company for human rights violations in Palestine. Joanna Warrington, spokesperson for Fossil Free London, said: > Whilst people across the country are watching their bills skyrocket and extreme weather events and climate disasters fill their phone screens: our government stands at a crossroads. > > At this point in climate collapse, approving any new oil and gas project is tantamount to climate denial. It is like a doctor diagnosing a patient with lung cancer and handing them a cigarette. > > A red line must be drawn. We used 588.6kWh of grid⚡ in Feb-2026 with ~77kWh for EV 200kWh general household activity 334kWh for ASHP Delivering 1050kWh heat & DHW our PV generated 72kWh, with 71kWh self consump & ~1.0kWh export Total cost of elec: £110.32 inc VAT and standing charge (but excluding FiT payments for our PV).
I agree - I think this is a key angle that the environmental movement misses. Why isn't green tech isn't ever framed in this way? Something like "of course we want to lead the way on green tech, given our nation's proud history of engineering" (I'm obviously not a comms professional 🙂)
“What’s not spiking today is the cost of wind and solar,” said Manish Bapna, president of the Natural Resources Defense Council “National security hawks should be clean energy hawks.” www.nytimes.com/2026/03/03/c...
I proudly support the Stop Rosebank pledge and call for a properly funded just transition for oil and gas workers and communities. www.independent.co.uk/news/busines...
"Solar Power Project Completed On Capped Landfill In Rhode Island #Erneuerbare #Renewable #GoodNews cleantechnica.com/2026/02/26/s… It features a 5.740 MW solar array. (1/2)"
Using a landfill in this dual-purpose manner is both practical and smart because the land was not likely to be used for anything else. In other words, no land already in use needed to be found, obtained, and transformed for the solar power farm installation. (2/2)
Hi @solarchase.bsky.social @solarpowereu.bsky.social A question of modeling future European solar (and storage) deployments. How long before Iran becomes noticeable in the capacity numbers? Some fence sitter buyers already made a move I’d bet. Bet some industrials seeing this chart moved too…
