It always boils down to "oh but you LIKE the smelly man, don't you!". So many people here don't know what actual virtues or arguments are, it's just smears all the way down. Hence the Newsom Is Fascist framing.

I must say I'm not thrilled about what she says after that, expressing sadness over people going after Newsom. People maybe take too much time doing that, but he deserves every bit of it, and the time to do it is now, before the primaries have even happened. That isn't the same as the deal with Gore

I am a bit more bullish on Newsom becoming the nominee than many people I follow, because "hey! he's the liberal California governor who stood up to Trump! he fights and that's what we're in the mood for" is what I think the median Dem voter is going to think.

Am I the only one? I appreciate Newsom pushing back against the Trump regime, and I appreciate that he is fighting in a way that resonates with voters. I also think that he is a corporate shill and is no better than the establishment. I also dislike his pandering to anti LGBTQ groups to win votes.

Newsom turns off the left wing base of the Democratic party, and he will never peel off enough Republicans to make up for that. Many of us are not convinced he actually is better in an appreciable way than Vance, because we watch what he does to homeless people in CA and...
I don't like or support Newsom for that reason and more. I want someone else to be the 2028 nominee.
