That is a fairer criticism. Complexity is not an alibi for passivity. Labour still made choices, and deeper entanglement with Palantir and US defence architecture looks like one of its failures. My point is only that failure inside constraint is not the same as having no constraints at all.

Fair point...Labour has made some moves on care and council funding, but nothing yet at the scale the crisis demands. Casey Report, fairer formulas, multi year settlements: yes. A real settlement for social care and local government: not yet. For me that is a fairer criticism.

I agree Labour too often looks managerial, and merely Managing risk. But holding up a mirror is not enough. People do not live in moral gestures. They live in systems. A kinder politics has to fund care, govern conflict, build homes and hold consent, not just sound better

But Labour is not answering these questions. Where is even the attempt of a social care or council funding reform? Instead they keep themselves busy with performative actions against migrants (which ironically enough is actually hurting social care).

A minority view, but I like some of the stuff they’ve done the recent workers rights bill for example which they had to fight tooth and nail against the right wing bastards in the Lords to get through.

In fairness, I’ve seen bitterness on both sides and not just around the “both votes” issue. My view is that there are plenty of people who genuinely support the SNP as well as others who only back them at elections simply because they don’t see a better alternative.

No. I mean politics that does more than strike the correct pose. If poorer migrants are being failed, that matters. But it does not rescue Green politics from the charge that it too often confuses moral declaration with the hard work of building security, consent and governing capacity.

Afaik only Edinburgh Central has shown a Green constituency lead in polling over the SNP. In all other regions it is *extremely* unlikely the SNP will win list seats, and votes for Scottish Greens therefore much more likely to win more pro-Indy seats.

Reminds me, I got an election communication from ReFarage UK. Its promises are very reminiscent: a commitment to ensuring that the worst voices continue to be privileged.

This will get the supermajority that Alex Salmond was trying to achieve, (but he was riding the wrong horse) and make it nigh on impossible for WM to ignore. If/when we get that, we can take it to The UN on the basis of us being under WM control against our will.

The outrage about London is manufactured, based on lies and deliberate misinformation. It could lead to people committing acts of terrorism to ‘save’ the capital. Khan’s outrage is genuine and needs to be amplified imo.
