Posts discuss legal access to single-sex spaces and facilities for trans people, referencing Article 8 privacy, the ex-head of the EHRC, a Supreme Court ruling, and assertions that 'single-sex spaces' is a term used by 'transphobes'. Mentions a named politician (@bphillipsonmp), claims of attempted segregation, and potential recourse to European courts; one reply suggests compulsory biology lessons for 'transphobes.'

The 1st honoree was TV & film star Laverne Cox #TransRights
Goodrum was a Black, bisexual, disabled trans man of low-income, all of which brought intersecting challenges he never shied from in his calls for unity over infighting. “Gender, Identity & Politics, and Eating Our Own” explored the infighting that can distract from mutual support. 2/4 #TransUnity 🏳️⚧️
PONDERING… I wonder if the woman (presumably cis) in the next stall to me a few years ago feels violated that a handful of toilet tissue was handed under the partition by a trans person, when she issued a plaintiff cry❓ It might have been tainted by my transness 😡 #TRANSAPARTHEID #TRANSRIGHTS
"Ally" is not sufficient for a representative democracy anyway. Actual trans people representing the needs of trans people would be ideal; people who have a vested interest in the success & flourishing of trans people would be the floor. "Ally" really isn't a meaningful label in this context at all
started transitioning at 35, i've got no illusions i'll be even half as pretty at most of the young trans girls i see on here but like, it's all been improvement. i was once content to be misserable as a femme long haired twink. "at least i am this femme and pretty" ill take any pretty progress
Let me start with a "fuck you". The Cass Review is almost universally condemned as absolute nonsense. Anything based on it is utter fantasy. We know that preventing trans kids from transitioning results in deaths by suicide. This is the systemic persecution of minority group children. Nazi shit.
I see transgender healthcare is in the news in Britain again One thing I find truly & genuinely stunning is that some people cite the Cass Review as if it was “impartial” and “evidence-based” How can folks be so gullible & not realize the ideological biases? 👇👇👇 bsky.app/profile/timl...
If a country REALLY wants to be LGBTQ friendly they have to accept migrants who are unemployed or have no savings. Unemployment and homelessness rates for transgender people are SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the rest of the population. The irony is that barriers to mobility are part of the reason why.
I've observed the role that transphobia plays in far right spaces for years, and I'm annoyed at some of the reductive takes on here framing it as an entirely astroturfed movement. Lots of people are, and always were, sincerely transphobic. What changed recently was how media describes those views.
Interesting choice of headline, as tides come & go. Clinics are curtailing transition care because of threats to their funding. I'm not seeing a sea change in the professional consensus that it should be an individual decision after adequate evaluation, with surgery generally deferred to adulthood.
It's domestic abuse at its core. Though not as common (at least ime), I have heard of queer relationships where they just forbid any friendship outside of the romantic relationship (regardless of gender). It's all about control The fact that it's so normalized in het culture is so bizarre
"I've interviewed probably 100 or so of people by this point, both on- and off-record. Asking pronouns is generally pretty standard, and at no point has anyone ever lashed out at me for asking. Some have been a little confused, but never aggressive. I think it's more accepted than people realize."
That doesn't mean it doesn't happen, obviously, but it's been my experience that most people have real problems to focus on so they don't really mind being asked.
Two other women were entering the facility, a few metres ahead of me. One of them had short hair and for all I know, she could have been in a similar state of fear. Because "Oh, you're not trans after all, let's have a jolly good laugh" isn't a thing that happens outside TERFs' sick imagination.

Labour trans schools policy sparks fury over parental consent concerns: New guidance from the Labour government on transgender pupils in schools has sparked significant controversy, particularly concerning primary school children as young as four. I've been trapped in the real world recently, so only just caught up with the whole Olivia Coleman palaver, and wow. All she said was she felt comforted within queer spaces because she has never felt at ease with the confines of her gender. So that is where GCritters are now, bloody hell.
"No that is not reasonable. Trans people have a right to privacy and not out ourselves going about our daily lives. Gender non conforming cis people also have a right to not be harassed or quizzed over their “true sex”. The original statutory guidance in 2011 was already reasonable"
Never respond to a question with a question!
See, that's the problem, and as a trans person i'm hoping I can communicate this to ya'll cis people but it's hard. If you'll forgive me some clutzy attempts, I'll try my absolute best to explain, and I promise I'm not trying to be snarky about it. I feel like any explaination is gonna be short
it's gotten so damn bad I've been told by several folks that they've simply had to start filtering the trans flag altogether. it's definitely not great that we're all just now expecting terrible behavior every time we see one!
Unsurprisingly, tickets to see the Broadway darling and trans trailblazer are already selling out. https://mrf.lu/3YKC
I agree with you that the EHRC's advice over the poor Supreme Court decision, was really crass. However, the Mail, Express & Telegraph all today take the exact opposite view on trans children in schools!? As the ban on blockers, I understood this to be on medical expert advice for under 18s?
