I disagree with you often (but follow with interest). But this is 100% true. Perhaps Obama’s greatest mistake was disbanding the 50-state strategy that Howard Dean had instituted at the DNC. There was a criminal neglect of the state & local races.

The guardrails are sort-of there. It's just no one thought that the party that had a majority in Congress would be okay with it, and they didn't think the courts would have so many partisan hacks. But now that it's the case, yes, some teeth has to be put in against this bullshit.

As much shit as I talk on dems, I still need them alive. I really, really hope they are hiring body guards. When Trump decides to re-enact the Night of Long Knives, we won't even have token representation anymore. They need to act before he murders them.

Wouldn’t it have been nice if those guardrails had been put up right after trump left office? They had 4 years to fill in the loopholes that he utilized in an attempt to destroy this country and they did nothing. So, here we are. POTUS instead of prisoner.

During the late 80’s onward I kept watching Texas being ignored. 90’s were really bad.They paid attention to the governor race but that was about it. Moved to a different county about 12 years ago.When I first got here most of offices there were no democrats running. It has improved some but barely.

The DNC also neglected state and lical races, much to the disappointment of those candidates. It only mattered when they got "nationalized" for some reason. Also related to this is how if state/local office holders do get national attention, they're tapped to run for executive office 1/2

You had guardrails, took Trump his first term to figure out how to remove them & remove those in his way. Yes, fix that. Were warned about this, with receipts. He was involved in Jan 6 & convicted of felonies. Yet got re-elected. Americans need to address how & why enough Americans did that.
