My own brother is like that, except suburban. He works in a suburb that's denser than half of what he considers "the city," knows plenty of people who live or have lived in cities, and I can see his skin crawl when I say I'm going to stay with people in town.

Was born in SF in ‘53, lived there till the 60s. Then went back later & worked until we retired in ‘14. Hubby worked @ City Hall & we lived in a condo on VN & Eddy. I miss it there. We’re in OR now, which I also love. Here to stay, found a home all our kids/GKs can visit/stay.

Maybe I'm just bad at understanding just how big my local community is? My hometown was very small but felt big back then. And then I lived in a city and that was gigantic. Now I live somewhere I thought was in-between, but... not really, I guess. Because they're here.
