Yes, but planning on "plundering" Venezuela is just stupid. They have oil but it's truly foul stuff - extra-heavy and sour, so it's hard to handle and hard to refine & the profit margin on the stuff is razor-thin. Their oil infrastructure is trashed and will probably ALL need replacement. ALL of it.
US shale-oil producers were already contending with oil prices at four-year lows. It will take years for Venezuela’s production to ramp up, limiting the near-term impact on US suppliers, but Donald Trump has made clear he wants firms to move quickly. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

$100 Billion BUST - Big Oil Companies REJECT Trump’s Venezuela Oil Plan https://youtu.be/Y_Zmj0-ZaRA
"Exxon Mobil told King Donald the Mad that they weren't interested in drilling in Venezuela,so he told them he wouldn't LET them drill for oil in Venezuela. What a petulant toddler he is. "
You quit? Oh yeah?! Well you're fired!!!
"Donald Trump doesn't even have concepts of a plan for Venezuela, but he's already briefed big oil executives on how they make money from his invasion. Once again, he's prioritizing himself and his billionaire buddies over our democracy and the American people. apnews.com/article/trum..."
It's even worse than that. They billionaires at that table were openly skeptical about going back in to Venezuela. The bros don't trust the bro.
"So let me get this straight. Trump said “our US oil industry could have Venezuela oil exploitation up and running in <18 mos, but US tax payers are going to have to pay a fortune to make it happen. We can’t afford healthcare, but he continues to enrich billionaires with our tax dollars. #ProudBlue"
Abso-F*cking-Lutely!
Venezuela’s oil grab isn’t strategy, it’s colonialism with better PR. Control resources, squeeze rivals, call it stability. Same playbook, new century. #Venezuela #Energy #Power https://deeppressanalysis.com
Sad that one country likely to destroy us all. Venezuela’s proven oil reserves are so vast that if they were fully tapped by USA, they would, by themselves, exhaust the entire carbon budget for keeping the world within the 1.5C temperature rise (though frankly, we’ve missed that already). #Climate

‘Chevron’s boss bet big on Trump and it paid off’ I simply don’t buy that the invasion of Venezuela was a product of Trump’s craziness. Take him at his word - it’s about US control of resources. www.ft.com/content/e9a1...

Seriously? Does Exxon really give a f..k about Trump’s Venezuelan minefield? Blocking them from their very profitable oil business of just next door Guyana would hurt Exxon but that is beyond Trump. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

The US has the highest debt as a percentage of gdp of any of the major world economies, except for Japan. Germany, China, the EU countries etc all have lower debt as a % of gdp. When you look at GDP PPP, China's is biggest and the EU nearly ties with the USA

I find this rather comical in an otherwise not comical at all time -- "...after the oil company’s chief executive called the country “uninvestable” .... “I didn’t like Exxon’s response...I’ll probably be inclined to keep Exxon out. I didn’t like their response. They’re playing too cute.”

Mr Exxon should publicly thank demento for not allowing Exxon to invest where they already said they won't invest. Demento wasn't done, he said gets no more of Venezuela oil, what he fails to understand is very, very few countries want their heavy oil n certainly not the usa. No plan and no clue.

Losing manufacturing to countries with a low cost of labor is an accidental rather than necessary feature of some free trade agreements in the past. Japan, Germany and the rest of the EU has developed while maintaining much of their manufacturing base with gov stakes in corporations, not tariffs
