Posts about New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani announcing universal childcare on day eight of his administration: a $1.2bn state funding commitment with Governor Kathy Hochul, mentions of “universal childcare,” campaign promises (freeze rent, fast & free buses, childcare), Democratic Socialists of America references, visits with Ms. Rachel, and multiple Twitter/X links and user reactions (ettingermentum, NYCMayor, kaliyugacitizen).

If he can get even a 10th of what he promised done during his tenure, NYC will be lucky. The racist rich class are gonna fight him harder than EVER before. Good luck to him. But he's not here to "save us". Grow up.
"New York City subway and bus fares did go up. But the MTA announced the increase before Zohran Mamdani was even elected mayor. www.snopes.com/fact-check/m..."
On purpose. They timed the increase so it be actioned after the election. To hurt one side after the election or to spare the other before. Seems important.
"“When I speak about making our city more affordable, my vision is not limited to the homes that we live in or the child care that we’re making universal — it’s also a vision where we make it possible for working people to afford lives of joy, of art, of rest, of expression.”"
It's a very old concept, "Bread & Roses"!
Ok. Have you ever told people that israel isn't doing it. That it's israel's conservative government? Have you been against mamdani removing protections from jewish people in new york? Yes or no?

Late 2020s progressivism will be slightly left libertarian. Dark Woke/Woke 2.0 are going to be less sensitive than Woke 1.0, & invariably will alienate, but it will be more directionally productive in response to fascism. "The warmth of collectivism" is the most archaic part of Mamdani's speech.

Serious question from someone in UK. How much can a NY mayor influence the city compared to state/national govt. Can they make a fundamental difference or just small, specific things within the larger framework?
this (still) is USA as well. he is talking about dignity.!! dignity!! remember when politicians talked about helping the people? He is actually doing it. Mamdani has not forgotten his constituents after winning office. www.youtube.com/live/9-SOMfP...
Mamdani increases public restrooms. Good thing, otherwise NYC would start smelling like Paris: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-SO...
Love living in #NYC. @mayor.nyc.gov on #arts for all: “..we are going to spend our time, our agenda, and the time that we have in office in doing everything we can to bring arts back to New Yorkers all across the five boroughs." www.artsjournal.com/brightride/2... Photo Credit: Ed Reed

What is desperately needed on the NYC theatre scene is another Joe Papp—someone who would work and work to bring pure theatre to the people. Papp bought a tractor trailer truck that would turn into a stage to do Shakespeare in the Heights and in Harlem. Culture without PROFIT$!

"Hi first time caller, I just wanted to say to you & the rest of your fake ass “progressives”🙄🙄🙄🙄:"
Please lets stop infighting. Democrats should respect DSA politicians running as Democrats if they are loyal. Give Mamdani time and see how he does. As for those DSA who want the Democratic Party to bend the knee to them. You are joining a much larger and older coalition, respect your partners.

By implementing a staunchly collectivist policy in the clogged heart of the capitalist system, Mamdani has opened people’s eyes to what can be done. In his own words: > No longer will New Yorkers be forced to accept that starting a family means leaving the city you love. > > Every political victory is a choice. > > And yesterday, Governor Hochul and I made the choice to deliver for working families and children. > > The work has only just begun. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/09/t... Mamdani gets democracy and what enables it. Art. Literature. Music. “The shared laughter in a crowded theater, the eager debrief after a musical, the heavy silence that hangs over all of us in a drama — these are moments that every New Yorker deserves,” Mamdani
""But here we are, in Mamdani’s New York, and in a sick and destabilizing twist, there has yet to be a sick and destabilizing twist" my favorite line with "His politics has been All talk, no jihad" a close second."
Hello my friend, I'm sorry to bother you, could you please help me with a quote? My children are dying of cold, please don't ignore me. 🥺💔💔💔💔
How to Help Small Business, Hurt Mamdani All at Once https://www.europesays.com/2693513/ Zohran Mamdani, the new mayor of New York City, wants affordability and equity through big-government intervention. His platform includes…
Even with all the evil going on right now, I see Zohran in his first 10 days announce the start of universal child care in NYC, fixing a bike path, denouncing antisemitism, he gives me hope that there are people out there that want to involve themselves in politics and actually do something good
I guess we'll see. But blaming Mamdani for this is ridiculous, in my opinion. Also, as disgusting as it is, it's protected speech under the First Amendment. What do you want him to do that would be constitutionally legal? Unless it turns to calls for violence, I don't think there's anything /1
