Discussion proposing "state taxes should fund state-run programs" and that federally funded programs be administered by the federal government; repeated phrase: "Federally funded but state-run is something we do too much." Responses reference federal empowerment of states, state banks, and FDR’s New Deal.

If the decision on whatever particular program is this is a national policy we want to be federally funded, then cut the state government out of the loop and have it be a purely federal program. Why give those state politicians you don't trust such power over administering it?

Or if the decision on whatever particular program is no, this a national policy decision we want funded by federal taxes, then the federal government should generally be running it. Some specific exceptions might make sense, but we've created far too many because it's too politically easy.

I get the logic, but disagree. States don’t have state banks, that’s consolidated at the federal level, like a credit union for it’s members, so they can offer more services & benefits. And then there’s FDR’s New Deal which helped states and people. Federal gov’t empowers states.
