We have a Jeep Gladiator and that thing clocks in at 5k lb I think. It can run straight up a rock filed mountain without issue. 0.001“ of rain on pavement? Slides around like a Buick on ice.

Taking scratches in the plastic rather than the paint does help preserve the protective coatings and the Japanese brands seem to be using better steel than they did back in the day, so I’ve not heard of new SUVs rusting out in the way 90’s Hondas or Mazdas used to. But it usually does look goofy.

2008 Acura TL did mid 130s once. I’ve seen some much higher numbers, but typically a) in cars comfortable at that speed, b) very controlled / visible / empty environments.

This seems plausible, too. Some cars, you can look up the tow rating in Europe and it's much higher for an identical car. The current testing standards in the U.S. are pretty ridiculous and assume no discretion on the part of the operator, like maybe don't tow up the 8% grade at 70mph and 120F.

I'd believe it. Given a road long enough & straight enough, _maybe_, but we were doing Code 3 response on Saskatchewan highways, and rarely got up to (or needed) that kind of speed. I can't see how it's physically possible in a CR-V in the suburbs.

Going downhill on I-70 into Denver with a tailwind, maybe. My derranged high school friend managed to get her dad's well above 120, but her dad was a retired Lockheed engineer so I doubt that engine was stock.

Nice! I like the styling of the Thunderbird. The styling of modern cars is so bland. Pickup trucks used to be used for basic transpiration. Now, they are priced like luxury vehicles.

i'm hoping this war will lead towards another fuel efficiency movement and we start getting smaller cars/trucks again my car maybe has a year or two left and i really want another car but like all cars available here suck now lol

One advantage of Omega over Rolex is they're underrated. Plus you can find obscure models and colour combos that are unpopular (i.e. rare) despite still being attractive and well made. So they aren't the boring, common choice and are cheaper when bought used. But they still rock!

It’s not about affordability, it’s about establishing dominance over everyone around you. Same reason for the huge car stereos and exhausts you can hear a mile away.

I actually need a truck that will tow 4K (preferably a bit more), and the Maverick hybrid is by far the most fuel efficient option. Not that I can buy a new truck, but I can aspire to a used one in 10 years or so.

Yeah the Challenger was the one axed (but fortunately the Charger comes in two-door too)

It was sold in my country for a year or two but for the price... it was really hard to recommend one when it cost $10k+ more than its closest competitors while being considerably smaller and having a considerably smaller range. I love the way the it looks but I think Honda misread the market badly.

Did anyone ever try dropping the 2.0V4 3.0 V6 into it for added grins? Though I think the engine compartment would need severe modification for the V6.

A replacement motor alone is close to the cost of the car.
